’Treasure Island!’ – Year 7 July 2005
Original score, lyrics and libretto by Stephen Kingsbury.
A wonderful performance of Treasure
Island by Year 7 .Under Mr Clay's direction the cast
delivered outstanding performances. Mark Fuller was excellent as Jim
Hawkins and Kieran Martin was a menacing Long John Silver. The bumbling
double act of Harry Dunlop's Squire and Pearce's Doctor, were a source of great
humour, as was the hapless Black Dog (Nick White) and Big Jesse (George
Apostolides). Other favourites include the clearly insane Priyen Jani as Blind
Pew and Ben Newman Saunders as suave ladies' man Ben Gun. The delectable Island Girls where played by some very charming year 7 boys and the chorus stayed on stage throughout to give strong
backing to the admirable singing of the main characters. The excellent school orchestra directed by Ms Bright provided swarthy oomph to
back each jaunty number . The set was magnificent, designed and constructed by
DT and Art Department with all hands on deck from many boys,
including some "old" 6th formers who came back to help back stage .
The clever lighting and sound was run by the boys under the
excellent direction of Mr. Priestman..
